Description:
This STL provides a rugged, field-ready case design for the OpenMANET radio stack. The enclosure is built around a Raspberry Pi 4, the WaveShare UPS B battery board, and a Wi-Fi HaLow HAT (WM1302). It supports M2.5 brass nutserts for secure mounting, brass spacers for stacking boards, and 21700 battery cells for hot-swappable power. The design positions the HaLow HAT on the bottom, with batteries on top for easy access, but can be inverted if desired. A waterproof external switch mod is supported via JST 2.0 pins on the UPS.
What is Wi-Fi HaLow?
Wi-Fi HaLow (IEEE 802.11ah) is a sub-GHz long-range, low-power Wi-Fi standard operating in the 900 MHz band. Compared to traditional Wi-Fi, it offers significantly greater range and better penetration through walls, foliage, and terrain—making it well-suited for off-grid and outdoor communications.
What is a MANET?
A MANET (Mobile Ad-Hoc Network) is a self-forming mesh network where each node connects directly to others without requiring centralized infrastructure.
With this case design, you can build a budget-friendly MANET radio capable of forming resilient long-range meshes. Applications include search and rescue (SAR), disaster response, off-grid expeditions, airsoft/milsim, or any scenario requiring disconnected communications.
